What is 4DSKY Crypto?
4DSKY is the world's first edge-native flight tracking network designed to support safety-critical real-time airspace situational awareness. The network has been developed since 2020 by 2 aviation safety professional, driven by the requirement to build a high performance, fault tolerant, and digitally native solution to support drone operations. 4DSKY has gained lots of traction, with installations at airports, in drone systems and traffic management software, with partners including Thales, Collins Aerospace and Sky-Drones.
4DSKY rewards contributors for installing and sharing data from compatible flight tracking devices, such as the Jetvision Airsquitter. The Airsquitter is unique in that it is dual antenna, and able to detect up to 5 different types of aircraft transponder. It features ADS-B, UAT and Flarm receivers, and has the highest performing MLAT capability in the market, enabling detection of mode-C and mode-S transponders too. This, along with its $700 price tag, make it one of the most capable sensors in the market, and able to meet regulatory requirements.
4DSKY is built using the Neuron M2M protocol.
Any geographical 4DSKY restrictions?
4DSKY is one of the few completely permissionless DePIN networks that exist. In fact, you could connect your sensor simply using the open-source neuron.world Github repository, without using 4DSKY software at all. This means that 4DSKY does not have the ability to restrict users geographically.
However, the points system will only reward users with unique locations, so ensure your sensor is the first sensor within a 2km radius to earn maximum rewards. Jetvision are also only able to ship sensors to countries that offer postal services, and that are not under any import restrictions. This includes countries such as North Korea and Russia. Please refer to Jetvision to make sure that they can ship sensors to your location
How can I mine 4DSKY tokens?
The 4DSKY network is still in beta, and rewards its community with points for contributing highβquality data to the network. The amount of points you earn will be a factor of the following:
- The reliability of your device
- The length of time your device has been installed
4DSKY is currently working on a new points system to optimize antenna placement, that will provide bonus points for installations that optimize range, location, quality and reliability. More details will be shared on that in due course.
When 4DSKY launches on mainnet, users will receive an airdrop of tokens proportional to the number of points they have accumulated during the beta.
How can I optimize my 4DSKY mining rewards?
To optimize rewards, try to focus on the following parameters:
- Range: place your sensor in a high location with an unobstructed view of the sky in all directions to obtain the best coverage
- Uniqueness: be the first person in a unique location, and greater than 2km from other antennas
- Location: placing your sensor near airports, or drone delivery locations
- Quality: make sure your install is high quality to ensure maximum performance
- Reliability: having a reliable internet connection and antenna setup
How can I use the 4DSKY network?
4DSKY already offers multiple products:
- 4DSKY Cloud: 4-dimensional cloud based flight tracking application live at 4dsky.com, that includes an intuitive display, and a series of features to see how your device is performing
- OpenFID: an edge-native flight information display (FID) that runs on your local computer, and connects directly to sensors you select in the configuration screen. This is currently being used by airports to manage traffic
- 4DSKY-edge: an edge-native runtime executable that is embedded within OpenFID, and is used by developers to connect their drone and traffic management software directly to sensors network
Who governs the 4DSKY network?
4DSKY uses the Neuron protocol for connecting flight tracking sensors to customer software. This protocol is governed by developers of the Neuron Github repo, much like bitcoin was in its early days. 4DSKY products and token model are all open-source, and governed by the 4DSKY team. Jetvision govern the manufacturing of their own sensors.
4DSKY Funding
4DSKY has received over $3.5m in funding from a range of sources, including UK government's UK research and innovation (UKRI), Outlier Ventures, Decasonic and angel investors.
